Vintage American Flag

Rummage sale, $3

I was so thrilled to find this flag, while digging through old blankets and fabrics on a table at the Temple Emeth rummage sale. It had obviously been hung outside for some period of time. Though yellowed and slightly crunchy feeling, it was completely intact. I am a proud American. I am grateful to live in a democracy, as messy and divided as it is. Today I am thinking of the citizens of France in the aftermath of the shooting at Charlie Hebdo. People should not die for expressing their opinions.

New Year

My objects of affection have been found at thrift shops, yard sales, even picked up from the curb. In Maine as a kid, my family had little money but lots of imagination. I love looking for orphaned and forgotten objects and using them to create a beautiful space.

On this cold, bright day in January, I begin my catalog of found objects.

Mustard Jars

-various New England thrift shops,  ~$1 each.

I adore these jars. The putty color, the slightly varying size and shape. The weighty feel in my hand. I use them to store writing implements, makeup pencils, and to display fresh flowers. They look great in groups or solo.
